Activity Report: May 2001

1. Projects
1. During Assembly Election, following support provided:
   1. District Units provided total IT support for the pre-election, Election and post-election phases.
   2. The State Unit provided support to the Election Department for Processing Counting information and on-line display of the same in the offices of the CEO and the Media Centre at the DIPR. Tools/ techniques used were Replication, ASP & VB6.
   3. The State Unit and all District Units transmitted round-by-round data for use by Doordarshan.
2. System Development started for the Commercial Taxes Sector.
3. Proposal for Computerization of five Employment Exchanges in the Hill Districts in Assam prepared and submitted.
4. A MIS is under development using VB6 & Access for the Training Division.
5. Completed the development of the (href="http://164.100.227.3/~mozz/highcourt) Prototype Web Page for the Gauhati High Court.
6. System Administration
   1. State Unit's LAN extended to the Election Department during the Counting phase of Assembly Election. Also the Media Centre at DIPR's Office connected through dial-up.
   2. The Counting process also required the use of replication feature SQL Server Database for reporting purposes.
   3. The web-enabling tool PHP under Linux tried out with PostgreSQL Database.
2. Training
1. Information Analysis using MS-Excel during May 21-25, 2001.
2. Unix, Foxbase+ and Application Software for Assam State Seed Certification Agency (ASSCA) during May 29-31, 2001.
3. Coordination Activities
1. Provided Census data to NEDFi.
2. Necessary actions underway to operationalise the Computer Centre at Regional Passport Office, Guwahati.
4. Other Activities
1. Visit to the CICs of Assam by the Principal Adviser, Planning Commission.
2. The two cases running at CAT, Guwahati and another at Gauhati High Court take quite some time and effort to follow up. Contempt Petition dismissed at CAT, Guwahati.
3. Reply to Audit Paras prepared and submitted.
