Activity Report: April 2001

  1. Projects
    1. Daily and periodic (http://causelists.nic.in/assam) Cause List for Gauhati High Court launched in the Web.
    2. System Design continuing for the Commercial Taxes Sector.
    3. DIC-MIS system porting to MS-Access continuing.
    4. Porting of modules for Election Counting process to SQL Server & VB6 continued.
    5. Completed the development of the Web Page for the Gauhati Medical College.
    6. Education Department:
      • Software developed for generating 300 Summary Reports from 6th AIES Survey Database.
      • MIS development for the Legal Cell started to take care of the thousands of cases of the Department.
    7. A module developed to detect fake pension bills in the Treasury Accounting System.
    8. Reporting modules developed for State Human Rights Commission.
    9. System Administration:
      • Streaming Media configured on Window 2000 Server at the State Unit.
      • Installed and configured SCO Open Server 5 at FCI, Guwahati.
      • Linux mail server reconfigured to use the higher bandwidth of the FTDMA VSAT using 'smtp' for outgoing mails and retaining 'uucp' for incoming mails.
    10. Accounts:
      • Form 16 generated and issued to all NIC employees in the N.E States.
      • Porting of the Payroll Software to Visual Basic started.
      • GPF nominee details computerised and sent to HQ.
  2. Training
    1. Windows98 & MS-Office97 (April 2-9) for the personnel from the Directorate of Census Operation.
    2. Fundamentals of Information Technology (April 23-25) for Govt Officials from various Departments.
  3. Co-ordination Activities
    1. Provided Census data to Irrigation Department and a number of research scholars.
    2. Initiative taken to operationalise the computerised system at the Shillong Branch of Gauhati High Court.
    3. Necassary actions underway to operationalise the Computer Centre at Regional Passport Office, Guwahati.
    4. Initiated necessary action to operationalise the Computer Centre at ESIC, Guwahati.
  4. Other Activities
    1. Monitoring the activities of 15 CICs needs considerable time and effort.
    2. The two cases running at CAT, Guwahati and another at Gauhati High Court take quite some time and effort to follow up.
